This week has been a difficult one, the weather has been very unpredictable and we have been short of staff, meaning we have had to close at 5pm most nights, I hope this has not caused a problem to our customers !!
The wet weather as always affects the strawberries most of all, however the maincrop is now drawing to a close, the late Judi- Belle is still ok, it has suffered a bit however the fruit is still there to pick.
This is how the fruit now stands :
STRAWBERRIES : Still Judi - Belle and a light picking left on the main fields especially the Symphony.
RASPBERRIES : Probably the best crop for years ! There are stacks of Raspberries to pick, thank you for all the compliments, the weather has produced a truly superb crop, as I have said before regular rain keeps the berries large and as a cosequence easy to pick !
TAYBERRIES : Drawing to a close but still some to pick.
BLACKBERRIES : There are still some to pick but you have to look !!
BLACK CURRANTS : A superb crop do come and collect these as they are very easy to pick at the moment.
RED CURRANTS : Again very easy and the late Rovada are now ready.
GOOSEBERRIES AND RHUBARB : They are now finished for this year however we have some punnets of frozen gooseberries available.
As always we have Tea and Coffee and Home made cakes in the 'Hut', Ice Creams, cold drinks and Wells Farm Dairy cream, available.
Please remember while you are at the farm, if you have any Apple Trees in your garden and either you have a surplus or you would like us to press and bottle your apple juice we can do it in the autumn, please ask for details and see some of our Apple Juice in the Hut.
Oncemore we look forward to seeing you during the coming week, if either the weather is particularly bad or we are short staffed we might have to close a little earlier until the weekend !
Best wishes
Tim Nichols and family.
