The Charity
The Donna Louise Children's Hospice Trust provides respite for children with life threatening conditions and support for the whole family at the hospice and in their own home. It is dependent on donations and with the current recession is struggling to raise funds. We have decided to support this charity based at Trentham and hope to raise as much as we can to support this vital community service.
The Local Project
Berkswich Parish Carer's Drop In Berkswich Parish Carers Drop-in seeks to support members of the local community who care for another adult by offering mutual support through a weekly drop-in facility at Baswich Community Hall. The group is unique among local support groups in that it seeks to support both the carer and the cared for. The weekly meetings include casual social interaction such as a cup of tea and chat, a game of cards or card making. These provide a stimulus without the pressure of having to achieve. It also allows the carers to share ideas and get out for a little while. In addition we also have input from other relevant groups such as Age UK and the local fire service. It is open to all those who want to come along on a Tuesday morning. Further information is available from the Parish Office on 01785 253111.
